Consumer Feedback Database
The term "big data" didn't even exist in 1999, when istyle was founded. Nonetheless, even at that time we turned our attention to the utilization of data when launching @cosme. Our database is a collection of accurate information on 32,000 cosmetics product items (almost all of the products sold in Japan), extensive user data (related to users of our services), and product review data posted by consumers who have actually used the products.
A Platform that Connects Online and Offline Worlds
In addition to operating the media site @cosme, istyle also runs cosmetics e-commerce sites and brick-and-mortar cosmetics specialty stores. Building a platform that connects online and offline products, sales channels, and retail experiences has enabled us to gather data on offline behavior and sales in addition to data from our online business. By linking all data using common IDs, we have developed an integrated behavior analysis system. The system reveals user preferences and trends, enabling us to communicate in a user-focused way. We provide this resource as an SaaS* tool to manufacturers. We intend to continue helping to heighten manufacturers' engagement with users so that we can contribute to further development of the industry.
